Sporting Achievements

Last weekend our Year 6 boys and girls touch team went to the QLD All Schools Touch Carnival at Redland Bay with Mr Marais and Mrs Slattery. This carnival is one of the biggest in Queensland with just over 280 teams competing over the three days. Our teams played well on the first two days with some solid wins against some tough competition.

Mr King made the early start on Sunday and drove up to cheer on our teams for their finals. The boys played hard to the end in a close game, but unfortunately went down 5 - 4 in their knockout game. The boys left nothing on the field giving it their all. The girls were in a hot knockout game. They dug deep to come back with a tough win over a top team. They moved through to the quarter finals but unfortunately lost against Palm Beach. We are super proud of both teams and the character they showed over the three days.

A huge thank you to Mr Marais and Mrs Slattery for coaching and training the touch teams and Mr King for coming up to support them all. A massive thank you and appreciation to all the parents for getting our students to their games. We are looking forward to next year.

Swimming Carnival

Our swimming carnival for our Year 3 - 6 students is on Tuesday 3 December at Somerset College. The program caters for all students from fun novelty races, 25m “have a go races” to championship 50m races. Over the next two weeks students will have the opportunity to nominate for the championship 50m races in their HPE lessons. These races are for students who do some form of swim training or have done in the past. The 50m races are used to select our swim team for next year's Oceanic Swimming Carnival and also for any students who would like to go for age champion. Information about the carnival will be going out via QParents.

Parents are welcome to attend the day, so please check the note on QParents for times that your child will be at the venue. A detailed program will also be coming out next week on ClassDojo.

Water Safety Program

Our Prep - Year 3 students will be taking part in our Water Safety and Learn to Swim program during Week 9. This program is run by Sunny Skyes Swim School and will take place at the Tallebudgera Sport and Recreation pool. Students will be bused to and from the centre over the four days for their lessons. The program is designed to teach our students swimming techniques along with skills to keep themselves safe in the water. The students will learn water safety and survival techniques such as swimming fully clothed. Information about this program will be coming out via QParents in the coming weeks.

Term 4 Recreation Sport Program

Our Year 5 - 6 students are two weeks into their recreational sport program. This program allows students to choose a sport of their interest and learn the skills around this sport. On offer for the students are surfing, mountain biking, golf, taekwondo, Hip Hop dance, orienteering, Tenpin bowling. Each of these sports have a progressive program where the students builds on their skills they have learnt in previous weeks.

Running Club

Running Club is on every Friday in the hall starting at 8:00am. We have had some great numbers attending this term and it is great to see so many students getting healthy and active in the mornings. Thank you to Mr Baker who ran the session last week while Mr Marais was away at the All Schools tournament.
