Staffing Update
Marvellous Mrs Conaghan
Vivienne Conaghan is a long serving and much loved member of Team Tally and has made the decision to retire from her very successful teaching career (41 Years) at the end of this year.
We share this news with mixed feelings, as we will miss Vivienne's expertise, warmth and dedication to helping children, but we are happy for her, knowing that more wonderful life adventures await her.
Vivienne is an inspiring professional with a wealth of knowledge and always willing to help her colleagues. She could be forgiven for resting on her laurels, but she has maintained a constant curiosity and drive to learn and grow professionally. Vivienne exudes calm, gratitude and care for others and we consider ourselves very lucky to have had her as part of Team Tally for all these years. She will conclude her teaching career with a strong legacy of educating children and making a positive difference.
Peter Combe
Music legend, Peter Combe, performed for our Prep and Year 1 students last week and it was awesome! Children were entertained and joined in singing, clapping and grooving with the icon.
Sparkles and Stripes Day
Sparkles and Stripes Day was held last Friday (1/11/24). This event was 100% for fun (i.e. what we refer to as a FUNraiser) and we thank families for helping their children participate. Students and Team Tally looked fabulous in a multitude of combinations of stripes and/or sparkles.
Our Principal, Mrs Harlow, said that she is still trying to get the glitter out of her car after jumping into the fun with our students and adding sparkles to her hair and outfit on the day.
Tuckshop Fun
Our wonderful tuckshop team, led by the incredible Desi, and assisted by amazing volunteers, decorated and provided themed menu items to delight children on Halloween last week. Thank you to all involved!
Parent School Council Member Announcement
As an Independent Public School, our School Council plays an important role in our strategic operation. The Principal and P&C President are standing members and other members are elected and hold positions for a maximum term of two years.
Thank you once again to Fiona Luke for her significant contribution to our school. Fiona has concluded her term as elected parent member on our School Council having provided valuable input throughout her service. She has consistently gone above and beyond for our school, also being one of our P&C Vice Presidents.
It is our pleasure to announce the recently elected School Council parent member, Daniel King. Daniel joins Adrian Hays who is the second Parent School Council Member (elected last year).
Staff Appreciation
Team Tally are united in our work to help our students and community and every person plays an important part. Due to this, we mark staff appreciation on one day together, rather than across different days for different roles. Friday 25 October, was our staff appreciation day and the walls around our tuckshop area were covered in thoughtful messages from our students. Reading these was a real joy and reflected what caring young people we have the privilege to work with. Thank you to parents and caregivers who shared sentiments of appreciation to members of our team, it really means a lot!
Remembrance Day
Next week (11/11/2024) is Remembrance Day and we will observe a minute of silence at 11am. Family members are welcome to pick a sprig of rosemary from our garden as a symbol of remembrance on that day if they would like to. Our school leaders will offer pieces of rosemary to our students.
Collaborative Planning – Week 8
During the week commencing 18 November, teaching teams will be released for half a day each to collaborate to develop the educational programs for Term 1 2025. This is one of the ways that we ensure consistent curriculum delivery and assessment across classes in the same year level and whole-school coordination. The educational program continues for students while planning meetings are in progress.
Communication
We provide an abundance of information for parents and caregivers via ClassDojo, a convenient messaging system. Parents and caregivers may contact the school if they require technical assistance. Documents can be saved for later reference if needed. We ask all parents and caregivers to avail themselves of this opportunity to stay informed (e.g. overviews about what is being taught and event reminders).
