Reading Olympics Launch

An exciting time at Wedderburn College as we launch our inaugural Reading Olympics! This is a whole school contest for reading supremacy, with many events between now and Book Week in August. Medals, prizes, and titles are up for grabs as our two houses, Ansett and Jacka, battle it out.

Our first event, the Reading Marathon, is underway with many more to come!

All students are participating in the Reading Marathon. To tally points for their house, students need to record how long they have read for, and have this record signed by a staff member, carer, parent, or grandparent. Reading minutes can be earned via reading done in class, at home, or independently so get reading!

A big thank you to everyone who is supporting our efforts to encourage Wedderburn to rally around reading, especially the wonderful people at the amazing independent bookstore Bookish in Bendigo.

Thanks also goes to former Paralympian Stuart Tripp, who will be our Patron for this exciting new competition. Stuart Tripp represented Australia in Cycling winning a silver medal in the Men's Road Time Trial H5 at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and competed at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.

Congratulations to our students who are off with a 'Flying Start'.
