2024 STUDENT INTERSCHOOL SPORTS TERM 2 INFORMATION
Dear families,
This term, students in Years 4-6 will be participating in Interschool Sports (ISS). Students have been advised of their sports (AFL, soccer, netball or bat tennis) and have had some time practising these sports at school.
For ‘away’ games, students will be picked up at approximately 12 pm and return to school at approximately 2:10 pm. Students will have the opportunity to eat lunch when they return to school. If your child orders a lunch order on this day, it will be waiting for them when they return to school.
Students are asked to wear full sports uniforms to all Interschool Sports games.
Students have been given a copy of the Student Interschool Sport Code of Conduct for you to discuss with your child and return signed before the first match.
Please find below a copy of the schedule and locations for ISS for this term.
We look forward to a great season of sport.
Kind regards,
Rudy Vail
Term 2 2024 Interschool Sport Schedule
Dear Families,
We will be conducting the annual OLHC House Cross Country Carnival on Friday 3rd May at Central Park, Eltham. This event is for students in Years 3 to 6.
The children will be walking to and from the park. The first group will leave at 9.00 am and all children will return by 11.00 am (please see the schedule below for approximate timings for each group).
Each grade will need parent assistance to walk to and from the oval and we will need extra parents at the oval to help with organising students on the course and at the finish line.
If you are available and able to assist, please complete the relevant section of the Operoo form sent earlier by Wednesday 1st May.
This carnival is part of our whole school program therefore it is expected that every child from Years 3 to 6 will participate. The children aged 10 and under will be running 2000m and 11s and over will run 3000m.
The carnival is a team event and each child will be scoring points for their House. This activity will also be the main selection trial for the Our Lady’s Cross Country Squad. We will select a final team who will compete in the District Cross-Country Carnival on Friday 17th May at Lower Eltham Park.
The proposed timetable is listed below for parents who are able to assist.
Children are encouraged to bring a labelled drink bottle. At this time of the year, we often experience cold mornings so the children should come in a jacket and tracksuit but may wear sports shorts or skirt for their running event.
All races will have a 20-minute time limit and any child still running will finish the lap they are on. We expect that the children will try their best, which at any stage means running, jogging or walking depending on their ability. The carnival is about participation, as all participants receive points for their colour team.
If your child is currently restricted by an injury, please write a note on the day. We will try to include the child in other ways during the event, such as assisting with time-keeping.
If your child is affected by asthma, please ensure that their medication is carried with them on the day.
