PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
Dear School community,
We have had an excellent start to Term 2. Our students have hit the ground running and working really hard in the classroom and are making good choices every day. They are demonstrating our KVPS C.A.R.E.S values and earning lots of Dojo points. It is nice seeing them cash in their individual and/or class points for rewards such as sitting on a chair in assembly, coming to school in pyjamas, earning an extra specialist session and so much more.
The smooth start to the term is a testament of our students hard work as well as the high level of support our students receive from their teachers. I would like to thank all our staff for supporting our students settle back into the term so successfully. This is of course on the back of all the work the team did in Term 1. As such, I extend a heartfelt thanks to Deb Ignace for doing such a brilliant job as Acting Principal and to Sally Newport for doing an equally excellent job as Acting Assistant Principal.
Department Digital Enrolment Process
From Term 2, all DET schools will use an online system for new enrolments called VicStudents. VicStudents will be available for students who are enrolling in a Victorian Government School for the first time. This includes Foundation (Prep) enrolments for 2025. The link to enrol via VicStudents will be available from the beginning of Term 2 (April 15). VicStudents has been assessed by the Department of Education to a high degree of security in line with the Victorian Protective Data Security Standards and is compliant with ISO 27001, the leading international standard for information security. More information to be shared.
SCHOOL COUNCIL OFFICE BEARERS
Congratulations to the following parent members for being nominated for School Council office bearers:
President: Nathan Milburn
Vice President: Dilanka Dharmawardena
Parent rep on finance committee: Michael Kellar
Federal Grant
I would like to thank Kylie S, Kellie M, Tracey and Deb for their efforts with the grant. We have received one million dollars to upgrade toilets. Thank you to Nathan Milburn our school council president for his support and joining me in meeting with MPs on various occasions to advocate for our school.
Teaching and Learning
I am pleased to share with our community the final version of our whole school instructional model. Our KVPS instructional model was developed collaboratively in 2023 and the design final design was created in 2024. This is an evidence-based framework used by teachers when teaching lessons. A special thanks to Shane Long for bringing everyone’s ideas together and creating the final design.
Values and Matrix of expectations
Since the beginning of the year every classroom and setting across the school has been displaying our new school values and our Matrix of Expectations. Our Matrix demonstrates the expectations in all settings across the school that we expect students to be demonstrating at all times. Introducing new values and our Matrix of Expectations is the first step into our SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behaviour Support) journey. A key part of SWPBS involves explicitly teaching and modelling the expectations to all of our students. Please see below for copies of both for you all to reference.
