Future Focused Learning at Mackellar Primary School

This term, the students of Mackellar have been busy delving into their Term 2 Inquiries. With a whole school Global Concept of Community, the students are inquiring into seeing how they can connect their line of Inquires to the community.

This term, the grades are investigating the following topics.

Prep:    Recognition and expression of emotions

Grade One:   Personal, local and family history

Grade Two:   Science

Grade Three:   Australian history

Grade Four:    Geography

Grade Five:    Australian history

Grade Six:     Civics and citizenship – democracy

Students have begun their provocations, an activity which sparks interest into their line of Inquiry. The grade five students were lucky enough to begin their inquiries during ANZAC Day by having local veterans visiting our school and helping the students to plant out our new ANZAC memorial garden. The students then went on to cook scones for the veterans to take back and enjoy at their local RSL.

There has been a big buzz amongst the students as they begin to investigate and plan out their inquiry learning.
