Principals' Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend with family and friends, however the cold mornings seem to have begun as we head into the winter months.

Mother's Day

On Friday 10th May, we celebrated Mother's Day and the wonderful women in our lives. We had a marvellous celebration that started with a whole school liturgy in the hall and then continued out onto our beautiful grounds for a morning tea picnic. It was exciting to see our students celebrating this special occasion with their loved ones as they enjoyed the sunshine and an array of scrumptious, tasty delights. There was definitely an abundance of smiles and a buzz of excitement. This was just a small way of displaying our gratitude for all you do in our lives. We hope that you all enjoyed a fabulous Mother's Day with family and friends.

Thank you to Mrs Mitchell and Mrs Vile for their organisation of our Mother's Day liturgy, it was absolutely wonderful for everyone in attendance. A special thank you to Mrs Mitchell and our talented teachers and educational assistants for all their hard work organising an array of special gifts that the students made for Mother's Day. It was delightful to see the enthusiasm, satisfaction and joy on their faces as they made their gifts to show their appreciation for the fabulous female role models in their lives.

Catholic Schools Week

Next week the Armidale Diocese will celebrate Catholic Schools Week which provides us with an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the important work of Catholic education. Since the very first Catholic school was established in New South Wales in 1820, countless children and young people have benefitted from the dedication and commitment of faith-filled staff in Catholic schools. The theme for Catholic Schools Week is 'Pray with Hope!'

On Tuesday 28th May we will attend the Armidale Diocesan Catholic Schools Week Mass at Mary Help of Christians Church, South Tamworth with our School Captains, Vice-Captains and Sports Captains.

Every Day Counts

Education is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier as they are able to build on what was learned the day before. Just one day missed per fortnight equates to one whole year over a child's school life!

Arriving at school on time is also important. Classes start at 8:45am so students should arrive at least ten minutes prior to this to ensure they have time to put their bags away and greet their friends. Arriving after the bell disrupts the flow of the class, and important daily reminders and learning opportunities are missed.

Schools, in partnerships with families, are responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students and for ensuring that non-attendance is addressed effectively. Thank you for prioritising your children’s attendance at school and please do not hesitate to contact us if your require support in this area.

Finally, we will be away this week on Thursday 23rd May and Friday 24th May attending the Armidale Diocesan Principals Conference in Armidale. In our absence any queries or concerns can be directed to Mrs Mitchell.
