Important: Before and After School Care Survey

If you have any interest in this, please fill out the survey attached. There is no commitment involved from the survey, just a general interest to ensure that the club has enough people. I have spoken to a number of families already, and it looks like we will have adequate numbers, however, this survey is critical.

Mother’s Afternoon and Art Show Thursday 9th May 2.30pm to 4.00pm

We look forward to seeing all mothers and other female role models in our students' lives come and celebrate a special afternoon tea. You will be able to see some special art work, and share an afternoon tea filled with treats from around the world, to reflect our community. The art show will stay up for a week, so you are most welcome to come through and look at any stage after the 9th May.

Walk to School Day Friday 10th May

We are planning to meet at a local cafe next Friday the 10th May at 8:10am to walk to school. You can drop your students off at Linden or Autumn Place, and we will shout the parents a coffee! The students will have some treats waiting back at school after the walk. We are hoping to have some special guests with us, but we will confirm with a letter confirming the details early next week.

Year Four to Six Camp:

Our Year Four, Five and Six students are to be commended on how they conducted themselves on camp. The camaraderie shown was outstanding, as well as the independence they demonstrated around the dining room. A camp leader commented that were as impressive a group he had seen, and they certainly we the most independent and respectful diners I have seen in over 26 camps. My thanks to Mrs Hudson, Mrs Drury, Ms Moran, Mr Webster, Mrs Feddersen, and Mr Howe for their efforts in leading the students on camp.

Ganga: Didgeridoo Performance

The students were treated to a performance and Indigenous education session with Ganga, who has toured internationally with his music. He taught the students about the connection to country and resourcefulness of the longest living culture in the world, our Aboriginal people. He urged our students to embrace learning to bring us all together, embracing our rich multicultural community with a spirit, of true reconciliation.

Karate Demonstration:

Our Year 3 to 6 student participated in a Karate demonstration. Andy and Aleyah helped demonstrate their skills, alongside their teachers. The discipline required for this sport is something we want all of our students to embrace.

Gala Day: Showing Off our New Sport Tops

Congratulations to all of our students who competed during Gala Day. A bit of feedback I got last year was that our students were the only school without a proper top at sport days. We have changed that. We need a few more though! The students helped design them and we think they look great!

Soccer and Art Academy

Our Year 4 to 6 students started their academy activities last week. This provides an hour and a half dedicated to their passion. Allowing student to pursue their passions aligns with a strength based approach, where students use their skills to build their self efficacy and confidence.

Gospel Reflection:

Last week we heard about Jesus being the Vine and we are the Branches. God the father is the vinegrower. However, it challenges us that sometimes God will prune some branches. We find it hard when things are taken away from us, yet sometimes pruning things actually does bring new opportunities.

Have you ‘lost’ something, thought things were going backward, but it actually turned out for the best?

Sometimes when we let go of something, we actually open ourselves to new opportunities.

At schools, students often can think the world is crashing down, (I have been guilty of this and will be again), let us remind ourselves that out of our most challenging times, can come our greatest growth if we can truly let go.
