Meet the Team

The wellbeing team comprises of Celine Tsang, (Student Wellbeing Leader/ Counsellor), Fosia Mohamud (Mental Health Practitioner), Annette Paterson (PSD Coordinator-Program For Students with Disabilities) and Madeleine Mitchell (Art Therapist/Counsellor).

My name is Celine. I joined the WHSC Wellbeing Team at the start of Term 3 in 2022 as a Counsellor and have stepped into the wellbeing leader role. I have a Masters in Counselling with Victoria University, and am a registered counsellor with the Australian Counsellor Association. I have worked with several schools and assisted students with their mental health. My favourite color this year is grey-blue, I speak English, Mandarin and Cantonese, I still love spicy food, I still love dogs. Come say hi.

I believe in autonomy, honesty, and non-judgment. We offer a safe space for students to explore their emotions and vulnerability. All feelings are acceptable, and there is no such thing as “you shouldn’t feel that way”, but rather what you want to do about it. My name is Fosia. I Joined the WHSC Wellbeing Team at the end of term three in 2021 as the Mental Health Practitioner (MHP). I am a qualified Social Worker (completed Masters of Social Work at La Trobe University) and have worked in various settings over the last 10 years in the Health and Public Service Sectors.

I prefer tea (with ginger) over coffee and love anything salted caramel. I’m enjoying working at WHSC in a role that focuses on mental health in the school setting, where early intervention can be facilitated. I strongly believe everyone has the key to good mental health; sometimes, we just need a guiding hand to access that key.

In addition to providing counselling and support to students, I also oversee wellbeing initiatives and targeted programs at the school. We encourage students and staff to be involved in mental health awareness as a whole school approach. Students and staff are welcome to reach out to me to find out how they can be involved.

My name is Annette and I have been at WHSC for 10 years. My role is the PSD Coordinator (Program For Students with Disabilities). There are 4 members in my team and we spend time with students both in their classes and during their breaks. As a team we believe that having a great relationship with the students is important and helps their learning. We strive for our students to achieve success in all aspects of their school journey and the confidence to reach outside their comfort zone.

I am a mum of 3 children and 2 dogs. I don’t like coffee but a love a good chat and enjoy playing card and board games.

My name is Maddie and I have had the privilege of being a part of the WHSC Wellbeing team since term four of 2023 following completion of my final student placement. I am excited to continue working with students in my role as a Student Counsellor. I am a creative Arts Therapist who works in a multi-modal, client-centered way. I have worked with a number of students facilitating both counselling and Arts Therapy sessions.   

As an Arts Therapist, I use art as a way for students to express emotions and communicate without words. Arts Therapy is process-based and doesn’t require any skills or experience in visual art, it’s about having space to play and express yourself!  

I have a beautiful cat that I talk about all the time, I love reading and being in nature.

Welcome back to school! We hope you had a restful term break and energised for term two. We look forward to engaging and supporting you. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where students wellbeing and mental health are our top priorities. We encourage both parents and students to reach out early if there are any concerns so that we can offer timely interventions. Please be assured that counselling sessions are strictly confidential unless safety risks are identified. Parents can contact our Learning and Wellbeing Leaders to discuss concerns and initiate referrals.

Referral to the Wellbeing Team

Students wishing to meet with the Wellbeing Team can:

Reach out to your Learning and Wellbeing Leader or Sub School Leader
Self-refer by filling out the referral form
Self-refer via email wellbeing@whsc.vic.edu.au

Parents wishing to contact the Wellbeing Team for support can reach out to your child’s relevant Learning and Wellbeing Leader or Sub School Leader. These leaders will provide support and initiate referral to the Wellbeing Team as needed.

Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) 

We have a dedicated team committed to empowering students with disabilities and high needs, ensuring they have equitable access to inclusive education and can realise their full potential. Our comprehensive support framework includes:

Developing Individualised Learning Plans tailored to each student's unique needs
Collaborating closely with parents and assisting with funding applications
Providing in-class support to support with comprehension and content breakdown
Offering dedicated spaces during recess and lunch for engaging activities
Supporting staff with effective behaviour management strategies

We are dedicated to fostering an environment where every student receives the individualised attention and resources they need to succeed in their academic journey.

Our committed Program for Students with Disability (PSD) team have worked tirelessly to create a robust dedicated space tailored specifically for our PSD-funded students. This inviting environment fosters and promotes social interaction and active participation in a variety of engaging activities during recess and lunchtime for our students.
