Numeracy

In Maths, we will:

Grade 5:

  • Take part in daily fact fluency sessions to consolidate their automatic recall of maths facts
  • Find numbers that are compatible to 50, 100 and 1000
  • Use estimation and rounding to check the reasonableness of answers to calculations
  • Describe translations, reflections and rotations of two-dimensional shapes. Identify line and rotational symmetries
  • List outcomes of chance experiments involving equally likely outcomes and represent probabilities of those outcomes using fractions
  • Use efficient addition and subtraction mental and written strategies to solve problems.

Grade 6:

  • Take part in daily fact fluency sessions to consolidate their automatic recall of maths facts
  • Investigate the effect of combinations of transformations on simple and composite shapes, including creating tessellations
  • Describe probabilities using fractions, decimals and percentages
  • Select and apply efficient mental and  written strategies to solve worded and number problems  with whole numbers and make estimates for these computations.
