Literacy

In Reading, we will:

  • Reflect on our reading goals and how we can gauge a deeper understanding of a text
  • Continue to enjoy a shared reading experience of The Last Bear by Hannah Gold
  • Take part in daily Paired Fluency reading sessions to further develop our reading fluency
  • Participate in Daily Reviews to expand our word knowledge and understanding
  • Further develop our understanding of homophones
  • Read a variety of articles, giving our opinion based on our prior knowledge and evidence from the text, as well as listening to and respecting others opinions about the topic
  • Join small purposeful reading groups to discuss, clarify and ask questions about the shared book we are reading with our peers.

In Writing, we will:

  • Develop a variety of planning skills to organise our writing ideas
  • Write a variety of poems, thinking about the style, audience and purpose
  • Explore the structure, language and features of Procedural Texts and use this knowledge to teach the class - How to…
  • Continue to record in our Writer’s Notebook capturing our poems, letters, other created texts and moments that we experience in our everyday lives
  • Participate in Daily Reviews to develop the structure of our sentences
  • Identify that the listener shows respect for the writer by taking other's opinions into account and respecting their point of view, even if it differs from our own.
