Co-Curriculum Report

LMR Tennis

It was a very early start for our LMR tennis stars on April 30 representing Year 7 Boys, Year 8 Boys, Intermediate Boys and Senior Girls in a full day of competition in Mildura.

Senior Girls

Our Senior Girls played one match against Swan Hill College, taking to the court with determination and showcasing their skills in both singles and doubles matches. Despite some remarkable shots and thrilling rallies, victory ultimately eluded them, with Swan Hill clinching the match 4 sets to 2. Nevertheless, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our girls for their commendable effort!

Intermediate Boys

Our Intermediate Boys demonstrated exemplary teamwork and sportsmanship against formidable opponents. Although they narrowly missed the top spot, their resilience was evident throughout the day, culminating in a well-deserved second-place finish after a closely contested encounter with Catherine McAuley College Bendigo.

Year 8 Boys

Fueled by grit and determination, our Year 8 Boys battled fiercely against Catherine McAuley College and St Joseph's Mildura, despite facing defeats in both matches. This invaluable experience will undoubtedly serve as a catalyst for their growth, motivating them to return even stronger next year.

Year 7 Boys

Our Year 7 Boys left an indelible mark at LMR with their exceptional teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill display. Standout performances were aplenty, with Sam Henson's unwavering commitment at the forefront. Their resounding victory against Irymple secured their ticket to the State Tennis event on 22 November. Congratulations boys!

Huge thanks to our coaches Roxanne Dicketts, Jordan Grant and Vanessa Mahoney for leading our students both on and off the court in Mildura.

AFL Premier League  - Round 1

Senior Boys

Our Senior Boys football squad travelled to Bendigo on Wednesday 1 May to take on Catherine McAuley College in Round 1 of the Premier League competition.

Despite a promising start with Sam Chapman's early goal, the team faced an uphill battle throughout the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, a spirited effort from our captain, Solomon Fleming, and Hudson Kellett injected momentum back into our side, igniting a resurgence.

The third quarter witnessed a spirited fightback, led by Jessie Johnstone's relentless running and Cody Walker's impactful contributions, narrowing the gap and setting the stage for a thrilling finale.

Despite a valiant effort in the final quarter, highlighted by Noah Hore's aerial dominance and Ollie Bray's exemplary play, the team fell short of victory. Nevertheless, their unwavering determination and resilience throughout the match were commendable.

Final score was:

Catherine McAuley: 10.15.75

St Joseph’s College: 5.7.37

Big thanks to coaches Justin Cantwell, Kristian McNicol and Matt Carnie for their support and leadership on the day.

Sporting Team Procedure Update

Our sporting team procedure outlines the process of how students are selected for St Joseph's College sporting teams and what is expected of them. It also outlines the steps that staff should take in selecting a sporting team. We encourage all parents to familiarise themselves with the policy and to discuss the expectations with their student.
