Living with Strength and Kindliness

This past week at St Joseph’s we have been reminded of the importance of gathering together in times of joy and in times of sadness. We have also reflected on the gift of faith and its shared story.

We are grateful to have Father Novie celebrate with us in our Parish House Masses over the past few weeks. These are wonderful times for our House communities to be together and enjoy connecting with students from Year 7- 12 House groups. Our student House Leaders from Years 8, 9, 11 and 12 have worked together with staff House Leaders to lead these Masses.

On Monday this week, our Year 8 studen gathered for a seminar session about our Living Justice Living Peace Charter. We explored ideas about what this means for us as a learning community and how we can respond.

Our students worked in small and large groups to plan and explore ideas. We also looked at examples of this already in our College and also in the wider community such as Wellsprings for Women and the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project.

Some examples of student responses include:

We could work to further reduce and recycle our waste at Kildare. Sometimes we need reminding about what goes in to what bin.

Student Definitions

When I think about Peace I think about everyone feeling safe and secure but being able to share what they think.

Justice is when people know what they can and can’t do and worry about looking after others.

This past week the Sandhurst Diocese celebrated Catholic Education Week. Our students at Kildare Campus gathered in liturgy together with Father Novie to mark the occasion.
