Beacon Foundation Mock Interviews

The Echuca Moama Beacon Foundation mock interviews held at our College last week were a comprehensive and valuable experience for our Year 9 students.

With 160 students participating, along with 10 volunteer interviewers from local businesses, the event provided an excellent opportunity for students to develop their interview skills and gain insight into the expectations of the workforce.

Preparatory sessions on cover letters, resumes and interview techniques were crucial components in ensuring the students were well-equipped and confident before entering the mock interviews.

A great job to all involved!

VCE Careers Expo

On Friday 3 May our Year 12 VCE Students attended the VCE Careers Expo in Melbourne at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The VCE and Careers Expo is Australia’s biggest education and careers event and provides students with the opportunity to talk to universities on a range of topics including scholarships, accommodation, courses and early entry programs etc.

The event also hosted short seminars that students could attend, covering topics such as La Trobe Aspire, English: Exam preparation Section C, Defence Force Careers and Pathways, and many more.

Our students came away with a lot of information, free merchandise, and course guides from the different universities, TAFE colleges, industry, Defence Forces, Police, Ambulance etc.

We hope this wonderful opportunity assists them as they start making their pathway choices.

2024 ERH Work Experience Program

Echuca Regional Health provides work experience opportunities for secondary school students who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.

ERH is committed to offering each of the local secondary schools 3 to 5 days of placement for a total of up to ten places. This is dependent on student numbers and availability of areas. Students must be a minimum age of 15 to undertake work experience at ERH.

ERH aims to provide a high-quality work experience which provides students with valuable insights into the industry and the workplace. Each student will be buddied with an ERH staff member for the time that they are on work experience.

Students are placed with employers primarily to observe and learn – not to undertake activities which require extensive training or expertise. We aim to provide a realistic learning experience that demonstrates daily activities and requirements of each role, in a supported setting. We meet with the students at the end of each day to check in and share the student experiences.

Application Process:

Due to heavy demand and to facilitate coordination of the program we do adhere to application open and closing dates.

We ask that students write a brief letter of application outlining their area/s of interest and a curriculum vitae. This should be emailed to undergraduate@erh.org.au to apply.

If required, due to overwhelming numbers, interviews will be conducted in conjunction with the school careers advisor to assist with this process.

Once selected, successful applicants will be guided through the ERH Orientation process prior to commencement and will be provided with the appropriate documentation.

Any student attending work experience at ERH, whom is aged 16 years and over, MUST have a current Police Check to undertake the work experience placement. This is a Department of Health and Human Services requirement.

*Applications Open for St Joseph’s College on 17 June and Close on 1 July.  (Please see Mrs Crossman or a member of the Careers Team if interested)
