Happy Easter to our Greek Orthodox community

FIRE CARRIER Commissioning Ceremony

Once a FIRE carrier, Always a FIRE carrier

Last Wednesday our FIRE carriers attended a commissioning ceremony.  Congratulations to our fourteen new members of the FIRE carrier team.  The students participated in a smoking ceremony, performed by Bunurong Land Council, at John Paul College.  All of the Bunurong Cluster schools were present.  All schools presented their 2024 covenants:  Levi and Sophie presented our covenant which read:

This year, St John’s school focus is to promote reconciliation beyond our own walls by forming relationships with local government schools to strengthen connections for First Nation students in our schools.

As a FIRE carrier school, we aim to meet more regularly to

have a greater voice within our school community.

We will also incorporate an image of Bunjil,

the Bunurong creator spirit, in our school logo.

An ‘Acknowledgement of Country’ will form part

of every class morning circle time.

ANZAC day Commemoration

We were lucky enough to have John Paul College students offer to host the ANZAC Comemoration Service at St John's.  Our school leaders also participated in some of the readings.  We listened to a war veteran who shared some of his experiences and he reminded us all to 'thank a vet' if we were ever to meet one.

Twelve of our school leaders also then attended the Frankston Schools ANZAC service at the Frankston Cenotaph at Beauty Park.  Our students laid a wreath on behalf of our school community.
