Junior School Report

What's happening in Junior School

Welcome back to a wonderful new term at Scoresby Secondary College. Our wonderful students continue to show our school values and present themselves in the best way possible.  Below is a summary of some of the great things going on in term 2 for our Junior School Students.

Morrisby Testing

Our career pathway testing program has begun with our Year 9 Students. This program requires the students to complete an aptitude test over a 2 hour time period that will guide a professional along the lines of what would be a good pathway choice for our Year 9 students.

An expert will have a 1 on 1 meeting with each Year 9 student discussing the meaning of each of the outcomes of the test and what it could look like in a post-school career pathway. Sorry parents, but this is the first step to the rest of their lives and they really are growing up too fast.

Brainstorm Productions – Sticks and Stones

This year we have the wonderful Brainstorm Productions coming out to run a brand-new informative performance with our students.

The title of this program probably tells you all you need to know. It’s an anti-bullying production and it unpacks the damage a little bit of bullying can do to a young person’s life.

It plays out a dramatised version of a true story with very real consequences for the people who are bullying and are being bullied.

At the conclusion of this the students will be given a chance to ask questions of the actors and unpack the story even further.

The last thing I wanted to say before signing off was how proud I am of our young people in their desire to achieve. I often walk around the school to check on classes and how they are going and the smile and waves I am always greeted with is heart-warming.

I also see how much pride they take in the work they are completing in class and the respect they show towards their teachers. It’s also nice to see all the students dressed so impeccably for the cold weather.
