Inquiry

By Keenan Fauzin

In inquiry, the 5/6s have been learning about natural disasters. In week 1 and 2, we chose a natural disaster and did some research about our chosen topic. In week 3, we started making a picture of a volcano using Barbara Reid’s style (Barbara Reid’s style is smudging plasticine/clay on thin cardboard or paper). Later, something exciting will happen!

Maths

By Josh Buxey

Recently in mathematics, the Year 5/6s have been acquiring knowledge on the topic of multiplication, division, prime numbers, composite numbers and square roots.  It's been a challenge but rewarding journey, and we're excited for what's to come.

STEM

Our students in Year 5/6 recently attended Robo Gals run by Monash University. Students learned about engineering principles, coding their bots and battling out to see which bot came out on top! We had a really good time in this workshop. A few of our students have been working with John Monash Science School, in weekly workshops. 😊

Reading and Writing

Our students have been studying information and explanation texts in both reading and writing.  We have been focusing on natural disasters and using this to inform our information/explanation texts. This has been helping us to improve our skills in writing clear and informative texts.

Wellbeing/Community

By Avyan and Adelaide

For the last few weeks, our chickens have been looked after by Adelaide and Avyan, who have been doing a wonderful job. Our chickens look happy and well fed! A reminder to our parents that you are able to purchase eggs from us, please visit the office should you like to make a purchase of these fresh eggs!

In wellbeing, we are learning about our school values, respect, resilience and responsibility. We have been working on embodying these values in our classroom and around our school. We have also been looking into the strengths we admire in others and how we can overcome daily challenges in everyday life.
