Year 3/4 News

Akshpreet, Leannder and Sean

Here is a glimpse of the wonderful adventures and learning experiences the Year 3/4s have been engaged in over the past few weeks.

Reading Adventures

In our reading sessions, we've been diving deep into two important strategies: summarising and making predictions. Whether it's a thrilling fiction story or an informative non-fiction text, our students have been honing their skills in summarizing key points and predicting what might happen next.

Mathematical Marvels

The Year 3/4s have been busy learning how to visually represent fractions, both pictorially and on a number line. From understanding the concept of halves and quarters to exploring more complex fractions, they've been building a solid foundation for this concept. They even crafted their fraction walls to reinforce their understanding!

Writing Wonders

In the realm of writing, we’ve been focusing on the art of procedure writing. Our little authors have been exploring the structure and language of procedures, understanding the importance of clear and sequential steps. From baking recipes to origami projects, they've been learning how to ensure that their instructions are explicit and easy to follow.

Inquiry Explorations

Our journey into this term’s Inquiry unit has just begun, and it's been a thrilling ride so far! Over the past weeks, our students have been sharing their prior knowledge and wonderings about the big idea. This week, we delved into the fascinating topic of Earth's formation and shape, sparking lively discussions, and exploring various theories together. It's been a fantastic opportunity for our young minds to question, explore, and discover the wonders of the world around us.
