Dear Clayton North Primary School Community

Welcome to Term 2!

I want to begin my message by thanking all parents and families for supporting us with the student-free day last Friday. I understand the inconvenience of finding suitable care for young children, so we do appreciate your support. These days are important as they allow school staff to engage in professional learning, curriculum development, school planning and administration, all of which have an impact on student learning and well-being.

One of the goals on our student-free day on the 26th of April was to review the current school vision & mission statements as these were developed more than 10 years ago.

The aim was to come up with a simple statement we can remember, minus the fluff and buzzwords, that sums up who we are, our purpose, and what we want to achieve. We brainstormed the words and phrases that best describe Clayton North Primary School and put them together to form draft statements, which we voted on. We have two final statements that we feel best describe our school, our community, and our purpose.

Consultation with key stakeholder groups - school council, parent and student groups - will occur before a decision is made. I look forward to your involvement in the process.

2023 School-wide Positive Behaviour Support Awards

The annual School-wide Positive Behaviour Support Awards identify and recognise Victorian Government schools that have implemented the framework to a high standard during the previous 12 months.

Thank you to the parents who attended last Tuesday’s assembly when Clayton North Primary School was presented with a bronze award in acknowledgement of the exemplary practices demonstrated in School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS). This is a fantastic recognition of the work undertaken by Belinda and Jenny, in leading and working with staff to build and develop the positive and respectful school culture that we are so proud of. It is also such a credit to our students, staff and parents, who demonstrate the SWPBS principles every day.

Child safety and wellbeing at CNPS

Last year, the Victorian Government announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Clayton North Primary School has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our school website:

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments or questions about Child Safety at Clayton North Primary School, please contact the school office.
