What's on in Foundation
Patterns, patterns everywhere. Students have loved identifying and creating patterns this term using colours, shapes, letters, numbers, and pictures. We discovered so many different patterns such as AB, AAB, ABB, AABB, ABC, ABCD just to name a few. Students loved creating colour patterns using counters and unifix, colour and size patterns using teddy bears, and shape and colour patterns using little shapes. It was incredible to see students applying this learning when decorating their very own pattern fish – what a colourful collection of different patterned fish we have swimming around our classroom.
Foundation students have loved delving into our Integrated topic of Sustainability. We have been exploring the different ways we can care for the environment and the land around us. It was very exciting to have the opportunity to visit the Kitchen and Garden. Students loved smelling different herbs growing in the garden, holding an egg from our chickens, and folding their very own newspaper pot to plant a poppy seed. We loved learning how to reuse materials such as newspapers instead of throwing them away, and now we get to water and watch our flower seed grow.
What an exciting first PMP session we had! The Foundation students have been looking forward to finally starting PMP and we were in the gym enthusiastically using our fine and gross motor skills. We have some talented students, not to mention the parents – showing off their skills hula hoop, zig zag jumping, bean bag throwing and mirroring actions during Simon Says. We can’t wait to explore more activities in our Julia Donaldson and Aaron Blabey themed groups through this term. A huge thank you to our incredible parent helpers who allow each session to run so smoothly.
