Principal's Report

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have had a fantastic start to school in Term 2 with our students engaging in a range of activities outside of the school.

Year 3/4 Camp

Last week, we had 72 Year 3 and 4 students attend Camp Allambee. The students were outstanding at camp and had a fantastic time over the three days.

Thank you to Mrs Keats who as camp coordinator organised a successful experience for all. I'd also like to thank the other staff who attended camp in Mrs Strike, Mr Fly, Ms Ranson, Ms Deng who supported our students across the 3 days. I would also like to acknowoledge our volunteers on camp Heloise Clarke, Nicole Kemper and James Hall who gave up their time to attend. Please checkout the Year 3/4 camp page to hear more about the experiences at camp.

Cross Country

On Tuesday, we had a number of students in Years 3 - 6 selected to represent our school in District Cross Country at Ruffey Lake Park. Well done to all students who gave their all in some chilly and challenging conditions. Congratulations to the students who have qualified for the next round later this term.

Education Week - Open Afternoons

This year the theme for Education week is 'Spotlight on STEM'. To celebrate, we will be hosting two open afternoons on Tuesday 14th of May and Thursday 16th May for current and future families to attend. Families are welcome to explore all the classrooms across the school to see how students explore STEM at Whitehorse Primary School.

Attitudes to School Survey

This term, students from Year 4 – 6 will complete the annual Attitudes to School Survey.

The survey assists schools to gain an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Our school will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child's schooling experience.

Your child will complete the survey online during school hours using a purpose built secure online survey tool.  It is important to note that we are not in any way “testing” your child. All responses to the survey are kept anonymous. Personal identification data will not be recorded in the survey response file. This ensures that the confidentiality of your child’s responses is protected at all times.

This year the Attitudes to School survey will be conducted at our school from weeks of Monday, May 20th - Friday, June 14th. The survey only takes 20 minutes to complete and occurs in your child's class.

Short Term Leave

As I posted last week to families on Compass, I wanted to inform the community that I will be taking a few weeks partner leave to support my wife as we welcome our first child into the world. Mrs Majdan will take on the role of Principal during my absence and will do an fantastic job in supporting the school and students during this time.
