Planting a seed in good soil

"Planting a seed in good soil" is a metaphor that we as Christians hear frequently, but it is true and held in good steadfastness. At Emmaus Early Learning Centre (ELC), we see the early years as planting a seed and ensuring that our soil is rich, allowing seeds to flourish.

Recently, I was reminded of this as the Class 3 community has embraced seeds. We have been collecting seeds from fresh fruit, observing that no two seeds are the same and building our understanding of a plant's cycle.

Once planted in good soil, a single seed will develop roots and spread its goodness far and wide. These roots will spread within the soil and sprout a seedling, allowing its head to be revealed to the world enriched with prosperity. Once the seedling sprouts into the world, it will need sunlight to grow. Just like us, the light Jesus provides will allow us all to grow.

The Class 3 children have been nurturing and observing these seedlings as new life is formed. Through the nurturing and watering of their seedlings, our seeds have been sprouting! Adding to our fruit seeds collected, the children planted seeds of colour, flowers that are designed to attract butterflies and other wonderful creations found on the land with the view to plant in our ELC garden to bring new life.

As a committed, strong group of Educators we are striving to create an atmosphere and environment filled with good, flourishing soil for our children and we hope that our roots will spread far and wide for all to see.
