Term 3: Student Voice

College Captains

What a fantastic start to Term 3.

It feels like we have barely made a dint in the year and yet, we have already reached semester 2!

It has been fantastic seeing everyone back at school, rejuvenated and ready to start the semester fresh. As mentioned in our welcome back assembly,  we would like to focus in on high expectations

Coming out of an assessment and exam-heavy based term, it is time to now reflect on how we progressed with our learning, and set goals for future growth. Likewise, this goes hand in hand with self  expectations, and exploring things that make you who you are.

Be sure to take part in as many curricular and events that you can, helping to shape yourself into a well-rounded student and young adult.

This involves participation in all school activities, which brings us to the House Athletics Carnival which was held on Tuesday the 23rd of July at Duncan McKinnon Reserve. It was fantastic to see everyone band together in house colours and fun costumes to participate and support each other in house events.

Congratulations to Grevillia house for taking the win with a whopping score of 1055!

A big thank you to everyone who got involved on the day, as well as the S.R.C. for providing a delicious lunch and snack array at the canteen.

This term we will be of course continuing our "What's Up SOC" podcast, streaming into your mentor groups every Monday morning. Additionally, we have decided to provide a streaming links for our podcasts so you never have to worry about missing an episode!

We're so excited to share another successful and fruitful term with the College community, and are looking forward to seeing what the new term will bring.

As always, please feel free to come and chat to either of us, and all the best for the term ahead!

Campaigns Newsletter

The campaigns portfolio has had a fantastic start to Term 3 and has more to look forward to.

Not only was there tremendous success on the track and field at our recent athletics carnival, but there was also significant support from students and staff for the canteen, which was run by the campaigns portfolio and the SRC representative.

As it was a sunny day, we sold a wide spread of

refreshing soft drinks as well as sausages, chips, and more.

All profits from the canteen will go towards the Cathy Freeman Foundation.  A big thank you to everyone who helped out on the day.

As Welfest Week fast approaches, the

campaigns portfolio is eagerly preparing for

upcoming events. One of these is the Krispy

Kreme fundraiser on Tuesday 6th of August,

where we will be selling a wide variety of

donuts. Additionally, there will be a cozy-

themed out-of-uniform day on 6th of August as

well.

Thank you for your continued support, and

stay tuned for what we have planned next.

Wellbeing and Connections

The Wellbeing and Connections Portfolio has had a great start to Term 3 with only better things to come.

Our portfolio like the rest of SRC has been preparing rigorously for Wellfest week especially for our main event of tag a friend but also with the other events that the other portfolios are running.

In addition to Wellfest Week the portfolio is planning a event for "Wear It Purple" day to help raise awareness and empower our LGBTQIA+ students as well as continue making our school a safe and supportive environment for any and all identities.

This event will take place near the end of August. As we approach closer to the date, more details will be released.  I am sure we can make this term equally or more exciting than the last.

Thanks to the continued support of staff and students.

SRC Presidents

Reflecting on last term is always a good beginning when entering a new experience. Last term, our council worked extremely hard, every single day, to get activities out.

Whether it be exciting events, or background work to strengthen our community behind the scenes, SRC was constantly and consistently committed to making sure we were meeting our deadlines. As always, we closed the year with a Celebratory Breakfast Club. Thank you to everyone who came, even if just to sit and talk to friends.

We sincerely thank everyone who bought merchandise from us, participated in any activities, and offered their support in the last term. It wouldn’t be the same without you!

This term has been an electric start.

The athletics carnival was a blast for everyone involved. We could see the excitement clear on everyones faces.

SRC ran the athletics canteen selling cookies, drinks, sausages and other snacks for students. Thank you to everyone who helped run the event and everyone who bought food. This money is donated to the Cathy Freeman Foundation – a charity who helps Indigenous learning groups and provides opportunities for young first nations people. Overall, it was an exciting day for all involved.

Our next big event is Wellfest Week. We have been excitingly chipping away through this task throughout the term, but we are quickly on our way to the special week.

The aim of Wellfest is to promote all areas of health – whether is it physical, mental, spiritual, emotional and social. We hope that the activities we run will help boost health awareness throughout the school, so get involved and have some fun! More specific information will come out on Compass, or at a later assembly. As a treat, will give you a little insight to some of the activities we plan to run; think activities like MasterChef, where students compete to make the best meal possible for our teacher judges. Think celebratory breakfast clubs, where students are invited to come, get some food and hang out with friends. Think bonding activities between classes, students and year levels, where students can show their gratitude to their friends, teachers, and classmates.

With Wellfest so close, we fear that’s all we can give you at the moment – no spoilers! We encourage all to come along and participate in every activity possible.

It will be a lot of fun!

Thank you all for your support, we hope we can make this term just as exciting as the last.
