Leading Teachers Report
Term 3 :
Junior School Report
To the South Oakleigh College community.
Welcome back for Term 3. It was great to see our students return from the mid-year break, refreshed and ready to engage in their learning on the first day back.
In our year level assemblies our Year Level Leaders discussed with the students that everything we do at South Oakleigh College revolves around our College Values of High Expectation, Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Teamwork.
We also spoke to our students around the importance of maintaining our high standards as a College and ensuring we are wearing our uniform correctly and arriving to class on time. Our College values were on display in our first major event for Term 3, the House Athletics.
Well done to all students who attended and gave it their all to win points for their house. The House chant was a highlight, as was the staff versus student relay where the teachers once again won the race comfortably.
I would like to encourage all parents to book in a time with their child’s teachers in the upcoming Conferences on Thursday 8th August.

Dear Students and Families
Every four years, we are reminded of the incredible feats of athleticism, dedication and sportsmanship that define the Olympics. The Olympics are not just about winning medals but embodying values that can inspire us all, both on and off the field. This week, I write this article inspired by the feats of our Olympians that are representing our country in Paris.
At South Oakleigh College, we can channel this Olympic spirit into our school community. Just as athletes train rigorously to achieve their personal best, we too can strive for excellence in our daily lives. Many of the values required to be one of the world’s best athletes are represented within our college HRRRT values:
High Expectations and Goal Setting: Olympic athletes set ambitious goals and work tirelessly to achieve them. At South Oakleigh College, we encourage setting high expectations for ourselves academically and personally. By setting clear, achievable goals, we can stay motivated and track our progress, celebrating each milestone along the way.
Respect and Sportsmanship: Olympic athletes show respect for their competitors, coaches, and fans. Similarly, let's show respect for our peers and teachers. Simple acts of kindness and consideration go a long way in building a positive school culture.
Perseverance and Resilience: Athletes face numerous challenges and setbacks but remain focused on their goals. Whether it's overcoming a difficult subject or navigating social dynamics, adopting a resilient mindset will help us achieve our personal best.
Responsibility: Olympic athletes take responsibility for their training, performance, and actions both on and off the field. At school, taking responsibility for our actions, assignments, and behavior is crucial. This means being accountable, owning up to mistakes, and striving to do better. Responsibility helps us build trust and respect within our community.
Teamwork and Collaboration: Many Olympic events require seamless teamwork. In school, working together on projects, supporting one another in class, and encouraging our peers can lead to greater success for everyone. Remember, we are stronger together.
Celebrating Diversity: The Olympics bring together diverse cultures and backgrounds, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. At South Oakleigh College, let's embrace our differences and learn from one another, creating a community where everyone feels valued.
As we watch the Olympic Games, let’s be inspired by the dedication and spirit of the athletes. Together, we can create an environment where every student can thrive and achieve their personal best.

Senior School Report
A warm welcome to the community in Term 3. The Senior School students have been busy from Day 1. Students are advised to check compass for any SAC events. This will help students stay organised for the entire Term.
Important communication regarding End of Year exams have been communicated in week 3 of Term 3. This includes End of Year exam rules and protocols. Please check the following link if you feel your child has not accessed the link for Exam Navigator.
https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/studentguides/ExamsNavigator/Pages/index.aspx
This link includes exam timetable.
By the end of Week 3 Term 3, students writing a VCE 3-4 or VCE VET 3-4 exam will receive their timetable. Students who are appearing for a VCE Language Exam for Unit 3-4, or a performance based Exam 3-4, will be given advice slips for oral exams for the practical component of their exam.
Please note: This is an important document that students must carry along with their Photo IDs to the designated exam centre.
Families are requested to contact a member of the Senior School Team if they believe their child did not receive any document related to the end of year exam.
I wish everyone a successful rest of the term.
