Principal Report
Welcome back to Term 3
Welcome back to Term 3. It is hard to believe that we were on holidays less than two weeks ago. The students have had a great start to the term with highlights already including students engaging in their lessons in the classrooms, discovering the new playground with a scavenger hunt created by the students in SLC5, NAIDOC Week activities and our 100 days of school celebration disco. We are looking forward to another busy term with lots of special events on the calendar.
New Playground!
So exciting to begin this term with access to our new playground! After two years without an outdoor play space, it was so awesome to witness the smiles and laughter from the students as they explored and discovered new spaces.
Welcome to new staff for term 3
It has been very exciting for us to welcome back both Lydia Pervez (Speech Pathologist) and Stewart Stevenson (Allied Health Assistant) to support our therapy team as Steph Cumming commences leave. Lydia will be working closely with students, staff and families from PLC1 and SLC7 and Stewart will be joining our Hydrotherapy and Physical Education Team and will be working with students across all classes.
Semester 1 Reports and Upcoming Student Support Group Meetings
Our Teachers and Therapists have finalised semester 1 reports and these were sent home at the end of last week. If you haven't received your copy, please let the classroom teacher know. The report is designed to give you an overview of your child’s performance and to provide you with information regarding their progress towards the attainment of their individual goals that were established at the beginning of the year.
Please understand that this report is not expected to be viewed in isolation but is an introduction to how your child is progressing which can be discussed in further detail in a Mid-Year Student Support Group meeting if you choose. These interviews are the ideal time to gain a full insight into your child’s academic, physical and social development and provide you with an opportunity to discuss any issues in a confidential manner.
If you would like a meeting, please contact your child’s classroom teacher by Wednesday July 26th to arrange. Meetings will be held in Week 4 and 5 (August 5th – August 16th). This written report can be so much more meaningful when it is discussed in context with your child’s teacher.
Bendigo Bank Grant
It was fantastic to hear from Bendigo Bank just prior to the holidays that we had been successful in our request for some beautiful new furniture and equipment for our brand-new learning spaces. We are very grateful for their ongoing support our school community and were successful in obtaining the following items for our school:
- 3 adult change tables
- Specialised Commode and equipment
- Library furniture
- Specialised booster seat
- Seating equipment
It was lovely to receive our check last week and take them on a tour of our new school facilities. A big thank you to Bendigo Bank!
Parent Opinion Survey
WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 29 July to Friday 30 August 2024.
All families are invited to participate in the survey.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.
Please speak to your child’s teacher or contact me if you would like more information.
