Junior School Sport

Mr Matt Campbell, Junior School Sport Co-ordinator

Our Junior School athletes were busy during the holidays and have shared their representative successes.

Representative Rugby

On 20-21 July the NSW Junior Rugby Union State Gala Championships were held in Mudgee. Kinross Wolaroi had four students selected to represent Central West Rugby in their u11 teams:  Digby McGee, Nick Strahorn, Harry Sullivan and Austin Whittle. This was the first opportunity for the boys to play rugby at a representative level. The boys had a terrific time competing against 30 rugby teams located from across NSW. At the conclusion of the championships Central West Rugby and Mid North Coast were announced as the joint winners of the G.R. Paton ‘Spirit of Rugby’ Award,  a brilliant way to wrap up the carnival .

Representative Netball

Andie Zinga and Grace Lowther were selected to represent Orange in the Junior State Netball Titles 6-8 July at Penrith. They were in the Under 12 team and were joined by Kristin Zinga as coach. The girls had a massive three days, playing in 17 games and their team finished 11th. It was a great experience and they got to stay as a team in Penrith together with the 13 and 14 teams. They learnt a lot and developed their netball skills which they are keen to bring back to their Kinross Wolaroi team.
