Year 9 Experiences
In Term 3 Learning for Life, students visited Mordialloc and Docklands to take part in an Amazing Race challenge. While in Docklands, students also had the chance to go ice-skating at the O’Brien Group Arena.
While students were working on their current unit of Pathways, they had the opportunity to build essential skills such as teamwork, accountability and independence. During the Pathways unit of work, students developed an understanding of the importance of these transferable skills in the workplace.
Students had a fantastic time participating in the Amazing Race, and they represented our College with pride. Students were community minded through working productively as a group and positively participating in the activity. Students also demonstrated respect by meeting teacher’s expectations and being mindful of the manner in which they conducted themselves in the community.
After the Amazing Race in Docklands, students challenged themselves with an hour of ice-skating. Ice-skating allowed students to demonstrate persistence and resilience, while having some fun with their friends.
“We, as a Year 9 group were lucky enough to go on an excursion to practise the Amazing Race in Mordialloc in week 3, the next week after that we had the real Amazing Race in Docklands. Those days were really fun as we got to be away from school while still learning yet having tonnes of fun. We had free reign during the Amazing Race, completing fun tasks and getting to do ice-skating afterwards. These excursions were so much fun and I can’t wait for more.”
