Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to a cold and wet start to Term 3, only 44 days til Spring!! We have certainly had an exciting start to the term with the celebration of World Chocolate Day! What better excuse to have to eat lots of chocolate! World Chocolate Day is the annual celebration of chocolate globally. Some people even believe that it is the anniversary of chocolate being introduced in Europe in 1550. Did you know that chocolate was invented by The Olmec, one of the earliest civilizations in Latin America. The Olmec were the first to turn the cacao plant into chocolate and used to drink it as part of their rituals and in medicine!

Yesterday I met with the builders to get an update on the building work and we are still on schedule. You will have noticed that the builders have begun to move their buildings from the stage 1 compound into the area underneath mine and Mrs Angelides windows, as well as part of the carpark. The buildings under the windows will only be temporary. The have now started the landscaping around the building and it seems strange to look out of the staffroom window and actually be able to see the building and landscaping taking place rather than a blank white wall, very exciting!!

On Thursday Indie Gillespie took part in the State Cross Country and came an amazing 7th for her age group!!! Well done Indie!!

We are now finalising our Prep/Foundation enrolments for 2025. If you wish to enrol your child at MPS, or know of anyone who does, please contact the office at your earliest convenience or you can complete the enrolment form via our school website.

We also need to know if you will not be attending MPS next year. We are now in the planning phase for 2025 and need to know if we will be able to retain our current staff. It is extremely important that we have this information sooner rather than later. I appreciate that informing school may be uncomfortable but it helps with preparing classrooms, programs and staffing.
