Check out what we have been up to lately!

Religion:

World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation is held on September 1. This day provides us with an opportunity to pause and contemplate the greatness of the gift that God has given us through the magnificence of Creation, and to reflect on our role in honouring, preserving, and protecting that gift for all. The Encyclical Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Homeprovides a wonderful context for this important day of prayer.

We have been exploring how we look after our natural environment, the effects of consumerism and the importance of biodiversity.

Literacy:

Our focus this term has been on recount writing. We have been looking at the role of subordinate conjunctions in our writing and supporting us to write complex sentences.

We have also been busy with plenty of news and activities from Book Week!

Check out some of the highlights below!

Numeracy

We have been learning about additive thinking, such as finding the total and difference of numbers. We have improving these skills by exploring worded problems and breaking these down worded problems into four clear steps.

  • Find the important information.
  • Draw a strategy such as number line.
  • Create an equation.
  • Check your answer.

Students are learning to add and subtract fractions and connecting these to real world problems.

Sale Yards Excursion

This term, Carter and Jock organised an excursion to the Euroa Sale Yards. With consultation taking place with Nutrien Euroa, with expert advise from Mitch and Nick, the boys identified the August Sale as the best one to visit Letters of application were required for students to attend, with a total of 13 students showing their interest.

We would also to thank Suze and Jim Gall for their support, donating hats, shirts and other little pieces from their business, Faithfulls Creek & Co.

It was a fantastic experience, with students recording weights and prices, before heading to the canteen for an early lunch and a final visit to Faithfulls Creek & Co for a picture storybook and checking out their products.

The Resilience Project.

Working on gratitude helps us to be thankful and appreciate what we have in our lives, rather than focusing on what we don’t have or what we want. When we practise being grateful, we start to scan the world to look for positives – this only takes 21 days! Practising gratitude every day increases our levels of energy, and helps us to feel happier and more focused, determined and optimistic. It even helps us have better sleep, lowers levels of anxiety and depression and we are less likely to get sick. So many benefits – let’s all try to be grateful for the things and people in our lives every day!

Congratulations to Gold team for taking out the House Championship ahead of Red and Blue.

Thank you to the Teagan, Kim and the ESC Sport & Recreation students who were diligent, kind, understanding and professional in their dealings with our students.

Finally, a massive thank you to Mrs Watson for the outstanding organisation and preparation for the day.

  • Students need to wear green socks and black shoes when we do not have PE or Bluearth.
  • Earrings need to be studs or sleepers.
  • No nail polish or necklaces.
  • White socks and runners on PE and Bluearth days.
