What a joy to be at Huntingtower!

Auryna Wina Damayanti (Auryn), Syakira Desmalia Rizma (Kira), Pursa Cahya Ukiarti (Pursa) and Gizalias Kusnanda Nurrafi’u (Giza) are are currently at Huntingtower as teaching assistants for Bahasa Indonesia. They were sent by the Badan Bahasa (Language Agency) of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Indonesia, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Canberra and will be at Huntingtower for Term 3. Here are their impressions of Huntingtower.

While we were still in Indonesia, our excitement about coming to Huntingtower was palpable. Upon our arrival, we were at a loss for words, with ‘amazing’ being the only term that could encapsulate our feelings. A mere glance was enough to convince us of the school’s extraordinary nature.

Becoming a teaching assistant for Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) at Huntingtower School in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, has been an incredibly enriching experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by both the faculty and students. The initial orientation was comprehensive, ensuring that we felt comfortable and well-informed about our responsibilities. The school’s administration was exceptionally supportive, providing all the necessary resources and guidance to help us settle in swiftly.

On our inaugural day, we encountered numerous teachers and staff members. Their friendliness was overwhelming, with warm greetings exchanged every time we crossed paths. We felt at home amidst such amicable individuals, contributing to a truly comfortable work environment.

The colleagues we’ve had the pleasure of working with at Huntingtower are truly exceptional. They are not only professional and dedicated, but also friendly and approachable. The collaborative atmosphere among the staff fosters a positive and productive working environment. Our fellow teachers have been generous with their time and advice, always ready to assist whenever we encountered any challenges.

The school environment at Huntingtower is extraordinarily pleasant. The campus is well-maintained, equipped with modern facilities that cater to the needs of both students and staff. The students themselves are a joy to work with. They are enthusiastic learners, respectful, and exhibit great curiosity about Indonesian culture and language. Their positive attitudes and eagerness to learn have made teaching them a rewarding experience.

Huntingtower is fully committed to fostering learning. It provides all the necessary facilities for both teachers and students, ensuring a comfortable teaching and learning experience. The students exhibit remarkable activity in class, creating an environment that is highly conducive to learning.

Were we still students, we would undoubtedly aspire to study here. Were we educators, we would certainly desire to teach here. 

Overall, our time at Huntingtower has been characterized by supportive colleagues, a welcoming environment, and wonderful students, making it a memorable and impactful chapter in our future career.
