Year 10 Work Experience

From Monday 22 July to Friday 26 July, Year 10 students embarked on a week of work experience. Immersed in the world of work, students were scattered from Melbourne Airport to Red Hill, and from Kensington to Pakenham. They gained skills across a variety of industries, including generative AI for HR tasks, animal care in various settings, pharmaceutical development, law, and motor mechanics. Students reported that they thoroughly enjoyed their time in the workforce, and many said the experience broadened their view of future opportunities. The feedback from employers was overwhelmingly positive. Congratulations to all Year 10 students for representing Huntingtower so well throughout the week.

Work experience at Melbourne Airport has allowed me to explore various aspects of airport operations, including planning, design, management, and safety. I also had exciting opportunities to visit some parked aircraft during this time. This experience has significantly broadened my understanding of the diverse career opportunities in the aviation industry and provided me with valuable knowledge that I never would have gained otherwise. It has been an incredible experience from which I have learned so much and will carry with me for the rest of my life.

While my time at the Porsche Centre Melbourne workshop gave me incredible insight into the career of a mechanic and technician, it also provided me with the invaluable experience of being part of a team. On my first day, I didn’t know what to expect, but I felt included and welcomed almost immediately. I met amazing people who shared their wisdom and gave me advice that will equip me for the future. While repairing, riding in, and admiring the cars were highlights of my week, what truly made my time there rewarding were the people I met and the bonds I forged. They allowed me to make the most of my short stay and provided me with a wealth of new skills and a broadened perspective.

Year 8 Interfaith Tour

During the activity week, Year 8 students visited various places of worship, including a Mosque and a Buddhist Temple. A common message of love, peace and respect for others were the most important values at the core of each religion.

Year 12 Media Screening

Congratulations to the Year 12 Media students who completed their final short films and screened them to the school community on Saturday night. The students had the freedom to choose their style, genre, and audience for their projects, and we can't wait to send their films to film festivals and showcase their talents. A big thank you to the entire 2024 Media team, including alumni students Lynton Sun, Erik Piefke, Spencer Au, and our talented teachers, Mr. Sakel and Mr. Cheung.
