What's Happening

SRC FUNDRAISER

The SRC are organising a fundraiser for Bowel Cancer Australia. As most of you will be aware, we lost a wonderful teacher and colleague, Marcus Champion, to bowel cancer. The school gym is named after him, aptly called the ‘Hall of Champions'.

To remember the incredible person he was, there is a fun run organised by CPS teachers held every year on his birthday to raise money for Bowel Cancer Australia. So far over $20,000 has been raised. To raise more awareness and funds for Bowel Cancer Australia, we ask students to wear RED on Friday 26th July and bring a gold coin donation. Thank you!

STUDENT EXCELLENCE ACTIVITY

As part of the Student Excellence Program, select students in year 3 and 4 participated in an online writing workshop with a highly acclaimed author and illustrator, Anna Zobel.

Anna Zobel is an illustrator, writer and teacher from Melbourne. As a child, Anna wrote and illustrated her own books, and she hasn’t stopped since. Anna is inspired — and occasionally infected — by the children she works with, and hopes to represent them in her work.

This is Annabel Miller 4B's recount of the day.

Last Friday on the 14th June, some of our year 3 and 4 students got the opportunity to do a writing workshop with Anna Zobel. Anna showed and talked about some of her books she has written and illustrated. My favourite activity was writing a mystery about the State Library. Overall, we did 100 minutes of writing and illustrating. I'm sure everyone enjoyed it.
