Acting Assistant Principal – Student Wellbeing 

Headspace Australia

In Week 2, Headspace Australia presented to our Year 12 and Year 8 cohorts. The opportunity for external providers to engage with our students is vital in building their capacity for mental health and wellbeing.

Our Year 12 cohort was presented with the topic of Transition – Leaving School. Students reflected upon their time at the College, and the experiences they have had with fellow students, and discussed future plans after school. Students were engaged and thankful for the opportunity to openly discuss the pressures of leaving school and the expectations.

Our Year 8 cohort was presented with the topic of Standing Strong – Bullying and Mental Health. It is key for students to build strong relationships with their peers and stand strong with them through troubling times. Students discussed the effects of bullying on their mental health and how it can impact every aspect of life. Students shared their own experiences and were supported by their peers.

Learn360

Dr Cameron McDonald from Learn360 presented to our Year 9 cohort. Learn360 provides sessions for students and resources for educators to foster an environment where each student knows and understands their natural strengths, so they can better engage with their strengths in class and during study.

Students were asked to reflect upon their character strengths, how they are used, and most importantly, identify and praise the strengths of others. Fostering healthy relationships is key to finding success in school and life.

Leadership Training 2025

Moving into Term 3, St Virgil's College has begun identifying and training our future leaders for 2025. All students are welcome to attend sessions in W1 at recess each Tuesday and Wednesday.

Students have been engaging in sessions on Identifying Strengths, Working on Projects, Service Leadership, Being a Virgilian, Helping those around you, and presentations from our 2024 School leaders.
