Student achievements
Congratulations to the following students
Meg Brewer and Hayley Newsham-West (Year 9), who recently competed in the School Sport Australia Championships on the Gold Coast, representing our state in hockey (the event is held in a multisport format, consisting of swimming, basketball, hockey, softball, netball and AFL). The pair is to be commended for their dedication to training, leading to their selection in the U15 Tasmanian Hockey team, and their determination on the game days. Well done, Meg and Hayley!
Olivia Hunniford-Webb (Year 11) and Emily Hunniford-Webb (Year 7), who competed in the GKR World Cup in Sydney from 8-12 August. Olivia and Emily represented their dojo, Mornington Prime, and Tasmania, with confidence and pride at the event, which featured more than 1,400 competitors from Australia, New Zealand and England. The College looks forward to following you both on your future karate journey.
Charlotte Pritchard (Year 8), who will be heading to Perth in September to represent Tasmania at the U14 National Hockey Championships – a tremendous reflection of Charlotte's hard work and commitment over the past year.
Madison Mackey (Year 11), who competed in the Karate Australia National Championships, held recently in Victoria, in the 16-under-18 years of age female junior division in both kata (patterns) and kumite (sparring), as well as the highly competitive female senior kata division. An amazing accomplishment, Madison.
Lucy McKenna (Year 11), who has been cast in the role of Wednesday Addams in the Musical Theatre Crew's upcoming production of The Addams Family. The musical will be staged at the Playhouse Theatre from 12–21 September. Tickets are on sale here.
