Subject Selections for 2025
In Term 3, Calrossy students will submit their preferences for subjects they would like to study in 2025. This process will commence with an information session for students, where the process will be explained and there will be opportunity to speak to teachers from each faculty about each subject available at Calrossy.
We warmly invite parents to attend these sessions so that they too can learn about the process and discuss options for subjects with their child and their teachers.
The two information sessions will be held as follows:
- For current Year 10 students choosing HSC subjects for Year 11 (2025) and Year 12 (2026): Friday, August 2nd, 2pm at Brisbane Street Campus Auditorium.
- For current Year 8 and 9 students who are choosing elective subjects for Years 9 and 10 (2025): Friday, August 9th, 2pm at William Cowper Campus Auditorium
Each session will include a short presentation from myself outlining the process before an exhibition-style forum to circulate and speak to different teachers. Representatives from each faculty will be present along with some external providers such as TAFE.
For parents who are unable to attend at this time, a recording of the presentation will be made available on The Hub immediately following the session, along with comprehensive information about subjects being offered and contact information for further enquiries. An email will be sent with the link to this information when it becomes available.
Students will be required to submit their subject preferences by Tuesday, August 27th. This is the day following the Leave Weekend so that our Boarding students will have the opportunity to discuss their choices with their parents in person before submission.
Calrossy is fortunate to be able to offer a wide variety of courses that cater to the diversity of student preferences in each cohort. Unlike some other schools that run a fixed set of courses every year, Calrossy determines which of the available offerings will be run each year based on the preferences of that cohort’s students. This aims to provide the most tailored learning experience for our students and ensure the maximal number of students are able to study their preferred subjects. For this reason, students should carefully consider the order of their subject preferences, as this information will directly influence which classes are formed in the following year.
Kind regards,
Matthew Frazer - Director of Studies
