Celebrating Learning at Great Ryrie Primary School

Friday again..... I'm honestly not sure where the weeks are going. It certainly hasn't been a quiet one at Great Ryrie.

Our Year 1 students celebrated 101 Days of School last week dressed as Dalmatians, while today our Prep students celebrated their 100th day at school. It was lovely to see our "100 year olds" wandering around the yard with walking sticks, grey hair, glasses and plenty of character. They certainly brought a smile to everyone's face and there were some very convincing performances.

Next week, Hoop Time begins with some keen basketballers, Book Week arrives with our classroom door displays coming together beautifully and our Book Swap is gathering momentum. We also have our Wakakirri Dance Celebration to look forward to. There is certainly plenty happening around the school.

Teaching and Learning Remains Our Focus

With all of this going on, you might be wondering when we actually fit in the teaching and learning. Rest assured, it is happening every single day. As I mentioned last week following our excellent NAPLAN results, our staff continue to do an outstanding job catering for every learner. Whether students need extension, support or just the right challenge, our classrooms remain focused on high quality learning.

A Special Visitor

We also had a very special visitor today. Miss Roberts popped in to introduce Chloe Rose to the Great Ryrie community. Chloe seemed quite content being passed from one cuddle to the next and even managed to inspect the fundraising schedule and sausage sizzle orders, just like her mum. It was lovely to see Melissa and Chloe back at school, even if only for a short visit.

Welcome to Toby McIlrath

I'd also like to officially welcome Toby McIlrath (Mr Mac) to Great Ryrie Primary School.  We are delighted to have Toby joining the Great Ryrie team.

Hello to the Great Ryrie Primary School community.

My name is Toby McIlrath (or Mr Mac), and for the past few years I have been working with the school one day a week, mostly behind the scenes. I'm excited to now be joining the Great Ryrie team in a new capacity.

I will be working at the school three days a week, partnering with teachers to strengthen leadership knowledge and skills, as well as supporting curriculum design and implementation. I'll also be working more closely with students, particularly in the senior years.

I'm looking forward to getting to know more members of the Great Ryrie community over time. Please feel free to say hello if you see me around the school. I look forward to becoming part of the Great Ryrie community.

Bike and Scooter Safety

It has been wonderful to see so many students riding their bikes and scooters to school. It's a great way to start the day and encourages healthy, active habits.

With so many students and families moving through the school grounds at dismissal time, we'd appreciate your support in reinforcing a few simple reminders.

• Please walk bikes and scooters through the school grounds.

• If possible, wait five minutes before leaving the bike shed after school to allow the busiest pedestrian traffic to clear.

• Once students have left the busy playground area they are welcome to ride across the oval, but should dismount again whenever pedestrians are nearby.

• Remember that our footpaths are shared spaces.

Slowing down, being patient and looking out for younger children and families helps keep everyone safe.

Please take a few minutes to look through the rest of this week's newsletter. There are plenty of photos, celebrations and reminders that reflect another busy week at Great Ryrie.

I hope everyone has a restful weekend and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Warm Regards
