Dear Families,

It has been a wonderful and busy start to Term 3 at Highton Primary School. As I walk through the corridors, I am continuously impressed by the energy, focus, and community spirit shown by our students and staff alike.

First, I am delighted to share some fantastic facilities news. New air conditioning units have now been fully installed across our BER classrooms. This upgrade ensures our learning environments remain comfortable, focused, and adaptable as we head toward the warmer months. This physical comfort pairs beautifully with our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing; our staff recently spent an invaluable Curriculum Day collaborating on our Semester 2 Wellbeing and Engagement Plan, ensuring a consistent, school-wide approach to student care and connection.

I also want to thank our community for your patience while Robbie and Gaylene are away on Long Service Leave. A huge thank you must go to Anna and Cho Lay, who are doing an absolute amazing job learning all the small details Gaylene does so well. They are keeping everything running beautifully behind the desk.

That supportive environment was on full display during our recent emergency response drill. Our students behaved to an exceptionally high standard - walking in neat lines, remaining quiet, and following instructions flawlessly.

In the classrooms, our senior students are currently undertaking a massive milestone. The Year 5/6 Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition has officially launched under the transdisciplinary theme Sharing the Planet. It is inspiring to see our student leaders investigating complex global issues, from resource conservation to community relationships. We look forward to welcoming families to view their final projects during our community showcase in Week 8.

With Highton’s Got Talent heats underway next week and Book Week just around the corner, there is so much to look forward to this term. Thank you for your continued partnership, trust, and support.
