Principal
Mr Cameron Jones
We are so proud to share our 2026 NAPLAN results with you, and we hope you will be as thrilled as we are.
This year, our students achieved their best ever results in multiple areas. In Year 3, the percentage of students performing in the Exceeding band grew across every area of NAPLAN - Numeracy up 12%, Reading up 11%, Spelling up 12%, Grammar and Punctuation up 4%, and Writing up 1%. In Year 5, growth continued across Reading (+4%), Numeracy (+4%), Spelling (+3%), and Writing (+13%).
What we are perhaps most proud of is this: Chatswood Public School now sits at its highest ever gap above statistically similar schools in the percentage of students achieving in the Exceeding band. These are not just year-on-year improvements. These are the best results we have ever recorded in Year 3 Reading, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation, and Numeracy, and in Year 5 Reading, Writing, and Spelling.
Results like these reflect years of consistent, expert teaching. They reflect a staff who know their students deeply, who plan carefully, and who hold genuinely high expectations for every child in this school. They also reflect families who trust us, engage with your children's learning at home, and choose to be part of this community. That partnership matters more than you might realise.
We want every family to know that these results, as pleasing as they are, are not the ceiling. They are the foundation we keep building on.
Thank you for being part of a school community that makes this possible.

Thank you to all the families who joined us for our Education Week Open Day on Wednesday. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces moving through the school and seeing their children's learning in action. This year's theme, Inspiring Excellence, felt very fitting as we watched students engage with their work and show visitors what learning looks like at our school every day. We hope you enjoyed the morning as much as we did.

A number of parents have raised concerns with me recently about pedestrian behaviour in and around the school. I want to take a moment to ask all families to speak with their children about road safety, particularly those who walk to school independently. A few key reminders worth covering at home: always cross at the lights, stand back from the kerb when waiting, never step out simply because you see a red traffic light on the other side, wait for the green man and check that cars have come to a complete stop before crossing. And importantly, if your child ever hears emergency sirens nearby, they should not cross the road even if the green man is showing. We will continue to reinforce these messages at school, but a conversation at home goes a long way.

Chatswood Public School will be participating the Travel Mode Survey from 17 to 28 August 2026.
As part of this survey, classroom teachers are asked to collect data from students in class, in the form of a hands-up count.
The survey does not identify individual students or staff, and information will be managed in accordance with departmental privacy requirements. The data collected from our school, assists with supporting transport and infrastructure planning.
Further information on the survey can be found here: Survey Information
Participation by individual students is voluntary. Parents or carers may choose to opt their child out. Please kindly advise the office if you would like your child excluded from the survey.

School Tours provide families with an opportunity to see the school in action and hear about the wide range of opportunities available to our students.
Please complete the expression of interest form to attend a school tour with our Principal, Mr Jones.
