BOOK WEEK

This term we will be celebrating Book Week in Week 7. Along with children around Australia, we want to celebrate reading for pleasure. We have been preparing since early Term 2 by reading and discussing a selection of shortlisted picture story books in Library class. You can find most of them on Story Box Library using the Login details, WalesClyde and password – Fete1234 

We will be voting for our favourite book in Week 6 and comparing our favourites with the CBCA Winner and Honour books as voted by the CBCA adult judges, as well as the  student shadow judges’ opinions.

During Week 7 we will enjoy some student creativity during Library lessons and Library Club and on Thursday 27th August, we will celebrate student and teacher favourite children’s books by having a Book Character dress up parade. It will be held on the school oval or if the weather is inclement by year levels inside various buildings.

Students have the choice to dress up as a favourite character, or bring along a copy of their favourite book, or draw or photocopy the front cover of the book and put it on a lanyard to show everyone. Having a copy of the book’s front cover is  a great idea even if you are dressing up.

The Reading Challenge continues until the very beginning of September, so please update your dashboard as you read your books.

Remember that Foundation to Grade 2 students will have those books read by their teacher in class, and in Library class recorded on their students’ dashboard.
