Dear families of our Year 4 cohort, welcome back to Term 3!

We also have an incursion in early Term 4 for our Civics and Citizenship unit, please provide consent and payment before the due date (end of this term).
In English this term, students are studying Roald Dahl's The Twits and later in the term they will learn the genre of Poetry, exploring Australian authors.
In Grammar and Syntax, students have been learning about quotation marks and when to appropriately use. In Morphology, we have learnt the rules for suffix -able, prefix ir- , im- and semi -. Students continue to practise their fluency whilst reading out loud regularly.
In Mathematics, we have begun our Fractions unit and students have learnt about equivalent fractions as well as improper and mixed numeral fractions.
In SEL, we are focusing on Help - Seeking behaviours and ensuring we assist each other and ourselves when need be.
In Humanities, students are immersed in our Geography unit, exploring Australia's vast ecosystem, habitats and vegetation.
Students are reminded to bring their diaries back each Friday so that teachers can check that students are reading at home. Please ensure you or another adult signs their diary as this develops accountability in your child. If you have any questions about anything in this newsletter, please see your child's teacher.
