Compass
Compass is the official communication platform at Wimba Primary School. All school attendance notes, events, payments, and student reports can be accessed through Compass.
If you are experiencing any difficulties logging in or navigating the platform, please see one of our friendly Office staff, who will be happy to assist you.

Student health plans
Just a reminder for parents, if you have received a Student Health Support Plan, Individual Anaphylaxis Management Plan or Individual Allergic Reaction plan please ensure you review this document, sign and return to the office at your earliest opportunity.
This is a requirement as part of the Department of Education's policies and procedures. If you would like to consult about the plan for your student, please come and see the office. If you need another copy, please contact the office and we will provide you with one.
Expired/expiring medication
I have been in touch with some parents recently regarding their child's expired or expiring medication. Please check your emails for the correspondence.
Compass chronicle update
If your student attends sickbay, you will now receive an email with all of the relevant information. Text messages will no longer be sent. If the incident is serious, or your child needs to be picked up from school, we will call you directly.
Cold and flu season
It's that time of the year again! To help stop the spread of germs, we kindly ask that students wash their hands or sanitise. If your child is unwell with a fever, we will contact you directly to pick them up from school.

NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee) is a major annual Australian event held during the first full week of July. It celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. At Wimba Primary School, students were immersed in rich learning about local Bunurong Country while also exploring the vast diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture across Australia.
Students were invited to enter the NAIDOC Week Poster Competition, where they showcased their learning about the current Bunurong Season highlighted on the Bunurong Calendar. Students learned that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' seasonal calendars differ across Australia and are based on natural environmental indicators specific to each area. Unlike the four-season European calendar, Bunurong seasons are not fixed by dates but are determined by observing animal behaviours, weather patterns and plant life in and around Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. Congratulations to Advika (FC), Rabnoor, Mantra, Angad, Ajooni (1D), Daria (2B), Sukhleen and Anaya (5A), Parineet (5B) and Alisha (5B). You all created detailed posters that beautifully reflected your learning!
All classes also enjoyed reading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories each day. To extend their understanding of the diversity of Country across Australia, students completed a Book Log, using the AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia to identify where each story or author was from. They also recorded what they had learned from each story and the perspectives it shared.
It was a wonderful week of learning about First Peoples' perspectives, histories and cultures. Well done to all of our learners for your curiosity, respect and enthusiastic participation in this important learning.
