On Friday, the 12th of September, EPS was lucky enough to host a group of engineers, consultants, and scientists from ARCADIS to run a workshop with some of our girls in grades 4-6. Students worked in small groups to complete a challenge based on real engineering projects which had been completed in the past.
Students had to design, budget, justify and build a bridge which passed through various terrains and areas of significance - all while trying to ensure they don’t break any laws and receive fines for non-compliance or environmental damage! Each group was scored on various aspects of their build, and one team came out as winners by meeting all the criteria of the challenge, scoring 11 out of 12.

At the end of the day, students had the opportunity to hear from the visitors in a casual Q & A session where they were able to learn about their careers, passions, and the exciting projects they have been able to work on.
All of the visitors stated how impressed they were by the knowledge, curiosity and attitudes of our EPS students.
A big thanks to ARCADIS and RMIT university who designed and facilitated the program.
Hello EPS community,
In this newsletter, the Green Team wanted to spread the word about the 10c cans and recycling. We are hoping to raise money to build some bird boxes by collecting cans and containers with the 10c from lunchboxes and homes.
There are two ways you can contribute.
The first way is by collecting containers at home and bringing them to school to put in our Blue bins by the STEAM room.

The second way is by taking containers to your nearest container depot and using our code. Our code is C2000032901. We have made some laminated cards with the barcode if you would like to collect one from the office.
The Green Team has also analysed all of the rubbish at school and we have noticed that many people are bringing plastic wrappers to school and they are not ending up in the bin. If you can, please bring Nude Food to school (a.k.a food without plastic wrapping).
