Viewbank College – Inclusion & Wellbeing Upd

As we move toward the end of the year, we would like to take a moment to celebrate the success of both the RAISE and ICAN Network mentoring programs offered to Viewbank College students in term 3. These programs reflect Viewbank College’s deep and ongoing commitment to Social and Emotional Learning, Wellbeing and inclusion.
Viewbank College Students Showcase Talents at ICANNETWORK Expo
Students from Viewbank College recently participated in the 2025 ICANNETWORK Expo, celebrating the achievements and creativity of neurodivergent youth.
The event featured inspiring talks, workshops, and panel discussions led by students, mentors, and professionals. It provided a platform for participants to explore inclusive post-school pathways and engage with like-minded organizations.
Viewbank College students who presented were Lucas Yang and Nihaar Naik. Lucas delivered a talk titled "I CAN," sharing his journey of self-discovery and empowerment, while Nihaar presented "Primates," discussing his passion for wildlife and conservation.
Both boys have said their participation in the ICANNETWORK School Mentoring Program at Viewbank College in Term 3 was instrumental in building the confidence needed to present at this event.
The success of Viewbank College students at the ICANNETWORK Expo underscores the positive impact of inclusive programs that recognize and nurture the diverse talents of neurodivergent youth. Their achievements inspire others to embrace their uniqueness and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
RAISE Youth Mentoring Program.
The RAISE Program connected trained volunteer mentors from the community with Year 8 students in a safe and supportive space, where our young people were encouraged to talk, reflect, and build confidence in themselves and their future. Weekly one-on-one sessions gave students time away from the classroom to connect with a trusted adult who listens without judgement — and simply showed up, just for them.
The impact of this program has been clear in the feedback from students, many of whom have told us how valuable the mentoring has been in helping them feel heard, supported, and more confident navigating school and life.
One student shared:
“I think RAISE was a super welcoming and safe environment and I enjoyed it a lot. It felt really relieving to have someone to talk to every Tuesday about literally anything, and I would do it again.”
With Gratitude
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the mentors, facilitators, families, and staff who have supported these programs — and most importantly, to our students, whose openness, courage, and growth have inspired us all.
We are proud of what’s been achieved and excited about what lies ahead as we continue to build a school culture that embraces diversity, connection, and belonging.
