What an exciting few weeks it has been for the 3/4 students. Classes have begun gearing up for their T-ball finals which will happen during the end of the term. We also had a few of our 3/4s run a bake sale to raise money for our gardening equipment - go the Climate Crew!
We would also like to remind everyone that this term students are expected to be wearing hats when they go outside. With the weather getting warmer, we also encourage all students to bring a labelled water bottle to stay hydrated!
Reading
This term students have continued reading our class novel "The Iron Man." The 3/4 students have shown interest and intrigue as we continue reading, we were definitely surprised by the events of this weeks chapter! We have been practicing different reading strategies as we read through our class novel such as summarising, predicting and identifying author choice. We have also explored features of non-fiction texts and practiced identifying the main idea.
Writing
The 3/4s are continuing to follow the writer's process in writing their animal information reports. As we follow the writing process, we have completed drafting our reports. We have learnt how to effectively revise and edit our writing to enhance our work. Most students have even began publishing their work on Google Slides, we can't wait to share our finished information reports! Students also spent a few days writing a narrative story about being trapped on a desert island.
Maths
The 3/4s have just concluded their topic on volume, capacity and mass. Last week the students played a board game where they had to convert units of measurement in both capacity (litre and millilitres) and mass (grams and kilograms). This week we are revisiting the topic of multiplication to refresh our knowledge and practice our multiplication fluency.

Discovery
For our topic "Wings and Things" the 3/4s have been researching the timeline of flight since the 1800s. Students have also experimented with designing paper planes and testing how effectively they fly and the distance their planes can reach.

World Teachers Day
Last week at PVNPS we celebrated World Teacher's Day. Us teachers had been greeted with kind words, thoughtful cards and many bouquets of flowers. We are very appreciative to all our students who joined us in celebrating World Teacher's Day and for all their amazing gifts.
