What a fantastic couple of weeks it has been in the Prep area! All the students are back into the swing of learning and we are constantly reflecting on our school PBE's to help keep the students focus and ready to learn!
Word study:
This term we have had an increasing focus on correct letter formation when writing and using this knowledge to help students form these letters correctly using dotted thirds.
We have a daily Building Fluency & Making Meaning part of our lesson, where students read a passage with a buddy, and try to read smoothly and fluently. It has been a fabulous way for the students to become more confident when reading familiar passages and this has transferred on to small guided reading groups and independent reading.

Writing:
This term, we have continued to focus on recount writing (weekend writing) and narrative writing. We have started a Friday Remarkable Writing session where students are given a different stimulus to write about each Friday. We use a suitcase and fill it with engaging and exciting things to help the students to write. The Preps have really enjoyed our Friday writing sessions and all the writing is improving so much! It has been a joy to see the students increase in confidence when writing independently!

Maths:
We have just finished a unit on addition and subtraction and have now started focusing on 2D shapes. We are learning to sort, name and describe these shapes.

Prep rotations:
During our Wednesday rotation session, our students have started to learn to log on to our school chrome books in preparation for Grade 1. It has been exciting to learn a new skill. Keep it up Preps!

A few reminders:
Swimming- Our P-2 swimming program will begin in Week 6. We are encouraging the students to prepare themselves for our 2 week program by independently dressing and undressing themselves.
'No hat, no play'- Term 4 is a sun smart term. If your child does not have a hat, please purchase one from the office.
