Student Wellbeing and Engagement

This month we’re recognising Mental Health Awareness Month — a time to focus on caring for our wellbeing and supporting those around us.

Schools are at the heart of their communities, and students are at the centre of our schools. This means Mental Health Awareness Month is a chance to celebrate the incredible work schools do to foster mental health and wellbeing. This work often has an impact well beyond the school gate.

Throughout October, we’re encouraging students to check in with themselves and their friends, to talk about how they’re feeling, and to remember that it’s always okay to ask for help when they need it. We’re also reminding everyone about the power of kindness — being there for friends, listening, and showing care.

Families can support this at home by having regular check-ins and encouraging children to share how they’re feeling. Simple moments of connection can make a big difference.

Together, we can continue to build a caring and supportive school community where everyone feels safe, valued, and heard.
