Principal’s Report

Welcome back to Term 4! I hope everyone had a chance to rest, recharge, and spend some quality time with family and friends over the break. As we head into the final stretch of the school year, there’s a great sense of energy and purpose around the school.

This term is always one of the busiest and most rewarding — with our Year 12 students preparing for exams and graduation, our Art and Technology Show and Spring Concert celebrating creativity, and a wide range of sporting and community events on the horizon. It’s also a time for reflection and setting goals, as students work hard to finish the year strongly and live out our values of Respect, Opportunity, and Resilience

I’m continually proud of how our students, staff, and families support one another and make Belmont High such a great place to learn and grow. I look forward to another jam-packed term ahead.

Year 12 Farewell Assembly

On Tuesday, we celebrated our Year 12 students with a heartfelt Farewell Assembly — a memorable occasion marking the end of their journey at Belmont High School. It was terrific to see over 100 parents join us to be part of their child’s final assembly, a fitting tribute for families who first ushered their children into school life 13 years ago in Prep.

The assembly was a wonderful reflection of the respect, gratitude, and community spirit that defines Belmont High. Students and staff shared stories, memories, and well-wishes, and the atmosphere was filled with pride and emotion as we acknowledged this significant milestone.

During the assembly, we also recognised the nominees for the prestigious JG Forster Award — an honour that celebrates a student who exemplifies the Belmont High values of Respect, Opportunity, and Resilience, and who has consistently demonstrated leadership, integrity, and a commitment to our school community throughout their journey.

We congratulate all nominees on their outstanding contributions and look forward to announcing the overall recipient at the upcoming Graduation Ceremony.

Spring Concert – A Celebration of Music and Community

What an incredible night it was at our Spring Concert! Last night, our school gym was transformed into a vibrant concert hall, filled with energy, talent, and a genuine sense of community pride. More than 140 students took to the stage, showcasing the depth and strength of our music program across a range of ensembles and styles.

I feel so fortunate to have such a dedicated and passionate team of music teachers who continue to create events that bring so much joy to our school community. Under the leadership of Music Director Rose Humphrey, and supported by Emma, Amanda, Kristine and Ashleigh, the night was a true celebration of what makes Belmont High such a special place.

A highlight of the evening was the heartfelt farewell Rose offered to our departing Year 12 students — a moment that beautifully captured the relationships and memories built through music. And of course, the perfect finale came when all 140+ students came together for a show-stopping performance of Africa by Toto — a piece that will be remembered for years to come.

Congratulations to all our performers, staff, and families who made this event such a success.

Arts & Technology Show – This Monday

Hot on the heels of our wonderful Spring Concert comes another highlight on the Belmont High calendar — our Annual Arts and Technology Show, taking place this Monday from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm

This event is always a fantastic celebration of student creativity, innovation, and skill across a range of mediums — from visual art and photography to product design, digital media, and food technology. It’s a great opportunity for families, friends, and community members to see the incredible work produced by our students throughout the year.

I encourage everyone to come along, wander through the displays, and experience first-hand the creativity that thrives within our classrooms. It promises to be another inspiring evening that showcases the talent and hard work of our students and staff alike.

Belmont Students Take Their Skills to the World Stage

A huge congratulations to two outstanding Belmont High students who are taking their talents to the world stage!

Year 8 Red student, Liv Meaney, has just been selected to represent Australia in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics at junior international competitions in France and Belgium. Liv has worked incredibly hard to earn this opportunity to wear the green and gold, and we couldn’t be prouder of her dedication and commitment to her sport.

Not to be outdone, our School Captain, Eliza Turley, is currently on her way to Prague, Czech Republic, to compete at the World Sport Aerobics and Fitness Championships, proudly representing Australia. Eliza’s determination and resilience have been nothing short of inspiring — she’s pushed through a hamstring tendon tear to make it to the starting line and do what she loves most.

Both Liv and Eliza embody the Belmont High values of Respect, Opportunity, and Resilience, and we wish them every success as they compete against the world’s best.

Year 9s Trade Taster Program at The Gordon

Next week our whole year 9 cohort head out on their first session of Trade Tasters at The Gordon. Each student has elected 6 trade sessions to take part in. This is a great hands-on experience for students to start really thinking about careers that interest them and get a taste for the world outside of High School. We look forward to hearing about their experiences. Please check Compass to consent and consider any special requirements for the day.

Kind regards,

Joshua Baker
