Welcome to Week 4's Banyule Bulletin. As always, we've been busy since our last newsletter with a host of things happening behind the scenes in preparation for the end of the year and the beginning of next year. There's also been lots of great things happening out in the open, and is a big reason you may have noticed the yard looking even more fabulous.

BUSY BEES

Our small but dedicated army of volunteers were amazing at last week's working bee. We set out to plant 300 plants, spread 4 cubic metres of mulch and fill a sand pit with 2 cubic metres of fresh sand. Our 14 families together with several staff members went close with their epic effort, leaving only about 50 plants needing to be planted by some helpful student volunteers the next day.

The before and after photos below celebrate this amazing work and show the difference a little bit of hard work and a few green thumbs can achieve.

The hard work of volunteers is greatly appreciated and goes a long way to saving us time and landscape costs. It also helps foster that sense of community that makes Banyule Primary School so special.

Thank you to the following families for supporting our working bee:

CAROLS NIGHT

We are planning our whole school Carols event on Wednesday December 10 so we ask that you might keep that date free. This event is a lovely picnic-style community event for families to relax and enjoy fabulous festive singing and great company. Further details will follow in upcoming weeks, and we are crossing our fingers for weather like today's!

PUPIL FREE DAY

A reminder that the day before Cup Day, Monday November 3, is a pupil free day for report writing purposes.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS

We have noticed an increasing number of students out of uniform. We understand that this can happen from time to time however if your child needs to come to school 'out of uniform' for a short time, please provide a short note for the classroom teacher so that we know you are aware.  Our lost properly is regularly sorted and returned to owners if labelled with names, so the power of labeling kids' clothes, now matter how old, is real!

Our next second hand uniform sale will be held on Friday the 28th of November at at 9am in the Gymnasium.

WORLD TEACHERS' DAY

This Friday, 31st October we celebrate World Teacher’s Day. As a principal team, we would like to express our enormous gratitude to the amazing BPS teachers. They are an incredibly dedicated, passionate, caring and capable group of individuals.  We look forward to the opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the value of teachers and teaching tomorrow.

Enjoy this long weekend, and we looking forward to sharing more great happenings in our next edition of the Banyule Bulletin.

See you around...

Natalie, Claire and Sam
