A message from Stage 2
Week 4 already! Stage 2 students are off to a fantastic start this term. It’s wonderful to see the enthusiasm and effort they are putting into their learning. The experiences happening across our Stage 2 classrooms are inspiring, with students trying their best every day.
Our English unit focuses on narrative texts. Students experience identifying main ideas, making predictions, and summarising information. In writing, students will practise creating clear and coherent texts by planning, drafting, and editing their work. They also work on using correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar to create texts that engage and entertain the reader.
During mathematics lessons students will focus on developing their understanding of multiplication and division. Students learn to apply efficient mental and written strategies to multiply and divide numbers, recognise patterns, and solve a variety of problems. Students are given opportunities to calculate more effectively and deepen their understanding of the relationships between numbers, including the connection between multiplication and division.
We have completed our dance unit and have now returned to fortnightly sport rotations within our stage. Our stage sport day is Thursday this term. Some sports include golf, basketball, indoor strength and fitness, volleyball and AFL skills!
We encourage you to ask your child about their learning and what they’re finding exciting at school as there are so many great things happening, we are sure they’ll love to share. We’re also looking forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming learning showcase later this term, where students will have the chance to proudly display their work and achievements.
