Grade 3 and 4

Term 4

English

This term in English we are beginning with a focus on Information Reports. The students are busy researching facts about an animal of their choice. They are reasearching the diet of their animal, their predators, features, where they live - habitats/biomes and interesting facts about the animal. Students are using their notes to make a draft of the information they are including - making sure they are only including facts and not opinions. Once they have completed their draft students are publishing a good copy with their best handwriting in the form of a flip booklet. We look forward to seeing their final presentation.

Show Me The Money!

Our money unit in Grades 3 and 4 has been full of excitement and hands-on learning, and the students are absolutely loving it! In Grade 3, they’ve been exploring how dollars and cents work together, and learning to represent money in different ways. Grade 4 students have taken it a step further by solving problems that involve buying items and working out change to the nearest 5 cents, both with and without the use of calculators.

Every Friday for the rest of the year, we’ll be running our special “Money Days” as part of our ongoing unit! Students will have the opportunity to earn classroom money by completing activities in their money learning wallets. They can then use their earned money to exchange or purchase different items, rewards, or privileges. It’s a fun and practical way to reinforce their learning while building responsibility, decision-making, and financial skills.

Through fun activities like running classroom shops, role-playing, and budgeting challenges, they’re building real-life skills while having a great time. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they connect what they’re learning in maths to everyday situations.

A Different Day of Learning!!

Yesterday, we relocated to Templestowe Heights Primary School, and what an adventure it turned out to be! We had a fantastic day learning in a different way. New classrooms, fresh faces, and a whole new vibe made everything feel exciting. From group games to creative activities, we made the most of our unexpected move and turned it into a day full of fun, laughter, and learning! Our Pobble write that turned into our version of The Voice was a HIT!
